STA National Conference

Attached please find the call for presentations for the 2016 STA National Conference to be held in Chicago, Illinois from June 2 – 5, 2016. Our conference theme is “Connecting Body, Mind and Spirit through Sandplay”, and we are excited to have Martin Kalff be our keynote speaker and also lead other sessions during the conference. Additionally, we are pleased that Denise Ramos from Brazil and Judy Zappacosta will be leading plenary sessions at the conference.
We especially look forward to submissions from international members. We are looking for proposals for presentations for break-out sessions and pre-conference sessions. Training in Sandplay Therapy in Jerusalem

We are happy to announce the opening of a new group of Sandplay Therapy training program in Jerusalem, in October 2015.
The program is open to certified experienced therapists (psychologists, psychiatrists, art therapists, social workers). It is compatible with the requirements of the Israeli Sandplay Therapists Association (ISTA) and of the International Society for Sandplay Therapy (ISST).The program includes theoretical instruction, personal experiential participation and supervision.

Supervision Groups

Once Sandplay therapists begin to work, it is essential that there be continued supervision of their case work to help deal with unforeseen problems and questions which invariable arise, and to guide them to see the material being revealed in each sand tray, and in the process. Finding a stillpoint in today’s every-changing world is a monumental task and is essential for the survival of soul and spirit.  The world is in crisis and our humanity is at stake as we are faced with ever increasing change, conflict, and violence.  Amidst these global circumstances, deeper psychological wellsprings are needed to contain trauma, and offer some version of constancy and hope in uncertain times.  In our work, a personal Jungian psychoanalytic focus using Sandplay Therapy is a way of discovering an inner stillpoint.

Current Activities

All of the ISTA members use Sandplay Therapy with their client populations as a part of their general professional practice.  Many of our members (and trainees) contribute therapeutic services to the communities in the Southern part of Israel that have been victimized by rocket and mortar attacks from the Gaza strip, and who have been direct and indirect victims of terrorism,   Many of our members also contribute to special communities and populations in which they have found Sandplay Therapy makes a significant contribution....

Ongoing Training Groups

Two models of Sandplay Therapy Training programs have evolved in ISTA to provide professionals with the theoretical, practical, and experiential learning required for ISTA and ISST membership.    Several teaching members of ISTA have adapted a relatively distributed model of Sandplay Therapy Training that follow the model of the original ISTA training program and offers  three year training programs.    The training through the Seminar Kibbutizim offers relatively intense two year programs.   At the time of this writing (Fall, 2011) there are four ongoing training groups: in Jerusalem (Porat and Meltzer); two in Tel Aviv (Steinhardt), and (Porat and Amity); and in Moshav Nir-Ysrael (Meltzer and Porat)..
