The Inner Beauty of Hakoniwa

Hakoniwa literally means “Box (Tray) Garden”, and is the traditional Japanese art of creating miniature, container gardens. When the late Hayao Kawai introduced sandplay therapy to Japan, he translated it as “Hakoniwa” Therapy. Dear Colleagues, Thank you for your participation in the ISST’s 2009 Kyoto Congress. We are happy to inform you that there is an on-line registration system for the conference. Using this system (Multi-entry System of JTB—Japan Travel Bureau) you will be able to sign in, fill out your registration form, upload your abstract and paper, and find and book your accommodations in Kyoto.

Payment can be made using your credit card. Please access the URL below and fill in the registration form and any other forms you may need to complete. We apologize for the repetition but, due to the need to protect private information, those of you who have already sent Email in response to the “Call for Papers” should fill out the presentation form and submit the items requested again on the on-line Multi-entry system. Such requested items include your presentation title, key words, and summary at the time of registering your proposed presentation, and the abstract and a copy of the full paper at the times outlined below. We appreciate your kind collaboration. The URL for the Multi-entry System for ISST-Kyoto, 2009 is: https://entry.jtb.ne.jp/me/registrye/registrye.asp?id=1276 Because of the delay in preparing the Multi-entry System, the organizing committee has decided to extend the deadline for registration of presentations. The new deadline is April 20, 2009.

Sandplay Therapy Institute Sponsored by Sandplay Therapists of America When we succeed with this work of bringing about an inner harmony which defines a personality, we can talk of grace. –Dora M. Kalff

Mission

The Sandplay Therapists of America is pleased to announce the opening of the Sandplay Therapy Institute in the Fall of 2009. This is the first time a permanent Institute for the study of sandplay will exist in the United States. The purpose of this Institute is to promote the study of sandplay as taught by Dora Kalff. The goal is to provide a learning environment for in-depth study of sandplay, and an exploration into the intricate workings of the human psyche, with affordability as a key priority. Program Overview The core sandplay curriculum will be augmented with coursework in Jungian psychology, mythology, dreamwork, spiritual traditions and symbolic process, and will be integrated with clinical and therapeutic case material of children and adults. Each seminar will be taught by a team of Certified Sandplay Therapists and researchers. The coursework will be completed over a two year period with four intensive weekends per year (two each fall and two each spring). Completion of this training program meets all of the coursework requirements for ISST/STA membership; however courses may be taken individually.
