Supervision Groups

Once Sandplay therapists begin to work, it is essential that there be continued supervision of their case work to help deal with unforeseen problems and questions which invariable arise, and to guide them to see the material being revealed in each sand tray, and in the process. This is important as a confirmation experience of the depth and complexity of a sand tray image, and a Sandplay process.

A supervision group allows participants to bring their clients material and learn more about these images: both individual images and the process (or sequence of images). In addition, each participant learns through the images of the others. Through the process or group sharing and analysis, each member expands the categories of ones awareness, learns about the restrictions of ones vision, and expands their capacity to see alternative possibilities. Group and individual supervision is an indispensable part of training to be a Sandplay therapist. Sandplay supervision groups are offered in conjunction with those who are participating in a training program and are anticipating doing Sandplay sessions with clients, or for students and professionals who have already completed a training program in Sandplay and are currently working with Sandplay. Ongoing supervision groups continue to play an important part in the development of Sandplay Therapists. Currently, supervision groups are ongoing in the south on Moshav Nir-Israel, in Tel Aviv , and in Jerusalem.
